Biodiversity Group Dickleburgh & Rushall Neighbourhood Plan

We are a voluntary group set up to represent the wildlife/environmental & conservation aspect of our local Neighbourhood Plan (NP), which is in the process of being formulated.

We are currently embarking on a project to record our ancient, cherished trees with a view to registering Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) on them. A TPO is an order made by a local planning authority in England (South Norfolk District COuncil) to protect specific trees, groups of trees or woodlands in the interests of amenity. The TPO Order prohibits the:

  • cutting down
  • topping
  • lopping
  • uprooting
  • wilful damage
  • wilful destruction

of trees without the local planning authority’s written consent.

We would be really interested to hear from anyone who knows of any trees that could benefit from such protection, due to their age or general aesthetic.

We are also keen to hear from anyone who may have any old maps, aerial photographs or perhaps anecdotal evidence regarding trees & hedgerows in the locality.

If you have any information regarding the above, or would be interested to help us with our efforts, we’d love to hear from you! Please email [email protected] or telephone 01379 452006

Thank you.
